Change of Theme
Yep, I have been at it again, gone is my very amature-ish picture of an old computer and in is a new theme for wordpress I found by this person. Looks a whole lot cleaner. The site is now fluid or variable width. That is as you resize the web browser the site changes shape. Plus side is code examples can have longer lines (within reason) but the downside is short entries will not look great. Oh and I suppose it breaks the rule in news papers where lots of text on one line is hard to read – hence news papers use columns… Of course with the web you can just resize your browser to your preferred width.
Art Rage and Inkscape
I am certainly no artist but occasionally I try to raise my skill level in this discipline. I like to do little doodles on paper but have never really found a program that lets me do it as nicely as I can with a pencil. I have a cheap graphics tablet and the software package that came with that is called ArtRage. This is one of those natural drawing programs that simulates chalk, paint, pencils and so on with a variety of different canvases. Drawing doodles on with it tends, for me, to result in very random jagged edges compared with a proper pencil and paper drawing. It is not the packages fault more a case of my lack of skill with a graphics tablet and possibly because it was the cheapest one on the market. I have however found a trick that lets me produce reasonable doodles on a computer without lots of frustration. Read the rest of this entry »
